A Legacy Since 1954
Mr. Don Bastian Weerasinghe began his entrepreneurial journey in 1923 with the establishment of the Central Hotel and Bakery in Katugastota, laying the foundation for a legacy built on enterprise, foresight, and service to the community. Over the years, his business interests expanded across multiple sectors, reflecting a spirit of innovation and resilience that defined a generation of pioneers.
In 1954, he ventured into the world of entertainment with the opening of Sigiri Cinema, marking a significant milestone in the cultural life of Kandy and its surroundings. This bold step not only introduced modern cinematic experiences to the region but also established a lasting connection between the Weerasinghe name and the entertainment industry.
